Dr. Lesleigh Brown

MBBS, DipPDerm

Dr Brown completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Sydney in 1976. He has also attained a Diploma of Practical Dermatology (DipPDerm) from Cardiff University and is a Fellow at the Australian College of Cosmetic Surgeons.

Highly experienced in all areas of General Practice, he holds particular interest in cosmetic medicine, sclerotherapy, travel medicine and all areas of dermatology. As a procedural practitioner, Dr Brown is able to perform skin repair and lesion removals, skin checks and cosmetic enhancement procedures all of which can be performed onsite at our new Berry street practice.
With a vast array of skills and experience, Dr Brown offers his patients personalised service and ongoing care.

Dr. Karyn Charles

MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Charles completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from The University Of Queensland in 2008. She completed a Internship and Residency at The Mater Hospital South Brisbane. Dr Charles then transferred to full time service in the Royal Australian Air Force, with a focus on Aviation, Aeromedical and Occupational Medicine. Dr Charles completed a Diploma of Child Health in 2015 and GP training in 2016 and is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Dr Charles discharged from the permanent RAAF in 2019 and transferred to the RAAF Reserves. Karyn’s interests are in fitness and well being, preventive and occupational health, musculoskeletal and acute care.

Dr. Elliot Coates

Dr Elliot Coates will join North Sydney Medical Centre from the 26th of October 2020. Dr Coates is a Private Billing GP, fees will apply for standard services. Medicare rebates are applied where applicable.

Experienced GP with Special Interests in Skin Cancer, Dermatology, Paediatrics, Mental Health

Dr Elliot Coates is our British and Australian Doctor who can also speak French, Portuguese and some Spanish and enjoys seeing all aspects of General Practice. He has Special Interests in Melanoma and Skin Cancer detection and treatment, as well as in general Dermatology and Paediatrics.

Elliot graduated with a BSc with First Class Honours in Tropical Medicine and an MBBS with Distinction from King’s College London and has subsequently obtained FRACGP, MICGP, a Master of Public Health from UNSW, as well as Certificates in Occupational Medicine and Sexual and Reproductive Health.

Elliot is experienced in Dermatology and Skin Cancers after 2 years in the Dermatology Department at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital managing patients with complex Skin conditions and 5 years in the Sydney Melanoma Diagnostic Centre at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital detecting and treating Melanomas and Skin Cancers in the High Risk Skin Cancer Clinic.

As part of this he has a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology from the University of London, Certificates in Skin Cancer Surgery and Advanced Dermoscopy from the University of Queensland, undertook training at the Sydney Sexual Health Centre and is a member of the Primary Care Dermatology Society and the International Dermoscopy Society.

Elliot is also experienced in Paediatrics after 2 years at the Mater Children’s Hospital in Brisbane and a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from the University of Sydney. He has also completed advanced training in Mental Health at the NSW Institute of Psychiatry and is RACGP Level 2 accredited in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Psychotherapy and he has also undertaken training in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) at the University of Sydney.

Elliot is enthusiastic about Medical Education and has been a Clinical Associate Lecturer in Dermatology at the University of Sydney and a Lecturer in Skin Cancer management and General Practice for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, for which he has also been an Examiner since 2011. He has also tutored medical students at the University of Sydney, GP trainees and rural and remote GPs, and has lectured overseas in India and China.

When not at work Elliot likes to travel, learn new languages and cooking recipes, and relax and spend time with his family.

Dr. Helen Greer

MBBS

Dr Greer will join North Sydney Medical Centre from the 26th of October 2020. Dr Greer is a Private Billing GP and will predominantly consult via tele-health. Medicare rebates are applied where applicable

After graduating from the University of Adelaide, Helen was a Resident at both the Royal North Shore and St Vincent’s Hospitals in Sydney. She underwent GP training with the RACGP and then began practicing in North Sydney. During the ensuing years she has worked as a surgical assistant with local specialists and at Royal North Shore Hospital she has participated in both the Asthma and Pain Clinics and been part of the Hospital’s shared ante-natal care program. 

Helen’s main areas of special interest are family medicine, women’s health and psychological medicine and she enjoys treating patients of all ages, from newborns to the older generation. She has an over-riding passion for holistic and lifestyle medicine and aims to make at least part of every consultation focus on preventative medicine strategies.  To further pursue her interest in this field, Helen is currently embarking on a Masters of Lifestyle Medicine. 

During her many years of practice in North Sydney, Helen has thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the privilege of being involved in the long-term care of so many patients and their families.

Beyond the practice, Helen worked for many years as Honorary Medical Advisor to the Australian Guide Dogs Association and is part of a GP advisory panel on IVF issues.

Outside of medicine, Helen enjoys reading, bush-walking, snow-skiing, travel and being a mother of three daughters.

Dr. Campbell Howitt

MBChB, DCH, DFSRH, MRCGP, FRACGP

Dr Campbell Howitt graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2010, obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery going on to obtain his Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners in London in 2016 and his Fellowship to the Royal College of General Practitioners in Australia in 2017.

With special interests in Paediatrics and Adolescent health, Dr Howitt continued on to obtain his Diploma of Child Health in 2014. He has created positive community links by working out in our local communities through the GP in schools programme and also working closely with Sydney University and Notre Dame with Medical Students.

Campbell also has Diploma of Sexual and Reproductive Health, which has expanded his practice within diverse community groups to promote positive relationships between health care workers and the Adolescent and LGBTQI community.

With a keen interest in ongoing professional development, Dr Howitt has commenced studies in Cosmetic medicine, which will broaden his skill set to treat more widely common dermatological conditions through complex procedural lesion removals and repairs, utilisation of non-invasive current technology including IPL machines and treat medical conditions such as hyperhidrosis, cervical dystonia, overactive bladder and chronic migraines with Botulinum Toxin.

Dr. Gayani Jayasinghe

Dr. Anji Lee

MBChC (Hons), BSc (Hons), DFSRH, FRACGP

Dr Lee will be on Maternity Leave from the 31st of October 2020, returning in early 2021.

Dr Anji Lee qualified from Manchester University Medical School in 2008 and worked for the last 6 years as a private GP at Fleet Street Clinic and an NHS GP in central London before moving to Sydney. Before qualifying as a General Practitioner Dr Anji Lee trained in various specialities including accident and emergency, gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, sexual health and psychiatry. She has a specialist interest in psychiatry and sexual health medicine and was a member of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare.

Dr. Vincent Lertamornthep

MBBS(Syd), DTM&H, GradDipPaed, FRACGP

Dr Lertamornthep graduated from the University of Sydney in 1995. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and holds a Graduate Diploma in Paediatrics. Vincent’s Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Health enables him to provide extensive travel advice for our patients. He is fluent in Thai.

Dr. Ngaire Millener

BSc, MBChB

Dr Millener graduated from the University of Auckland in 1984. Her special interests include Women’s Health and Travel Medicine.

Dr. Amanda Pieris

Dr. Amanda Pieris is a highly experienced general practitioner who enjoys caring for patients of all ages and stages of life. She graduated from UNSW and has worked in general practice since 1984. Dr Pieris worked at Beecroft for an extensive period before relocating overseas from 2009 until 2016.

She joined North Sydney Medical Practice in 2018, having moved locally. While overseas Dr. Pieris completed a masters degree in clinical education from Flinders University and did volunteer medical work in several countries.

She enjoys all areas of general practice and family medicine, and has special interest in women’s health, lifestyle and travel medicine. She loves spending time with her family, especially her four gorgeous grand-daughters.

Dr. Richard Loizou

MBBS(Hons)

Dr Loizou graduated from Sydney University in 2006 and since that time has provided medical services to the Australian Defence Force. Dr Loizou is a qualified Diving Medical Examiner and works closely with the Royal Australian Navy’s school of diving medicine. His special interests include adolescent health and sports medicine.

Dr. Diane Xiao

MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Diane Xiao joined our team in February 2019 and is a graduate of the University of Sydney. She is interested in caring for people in all aspects of General Practice and all stages of life. She holds certificates from the Sydney Child Health Program (formerly Diploma of Child Health) and FPAA National Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health.

Puja

Advanced Practice Nurse

Puja is our Advanced Practice Nurse who graduated from Australian Catholic University. She also has a Diploma in Health Science from the University of Birmingham and is currently undertaking her Graduate Certificate in Public Health and advancing to complete her Masters in Public Health with the University of Newcastle. She is experienced in chronic disease management, childhood, adult, and travel vaccinations, assisting in minor day procedures alongside the GPs’ and pre-employment medicals. She is also part of the steering group for diabetes with Sydney North PHN. She has an interest in cosmetic procedures and biological therapy IV infusions and will be providing these services in the near future.

Puja works Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Holly Davies

Practice Manager and National Nursing Coordinator for Qualitas Health

Holly is our Practice Manager and also the National Nursing Coordinator for Qualitas Health who graduated from Western Sydney University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Nursing and in 2006 with an Advanced Diploma in Midwifery.

Completing postgraduate qualifications in I.T, Continence care and promotion, Suturing and advanced Wound closure, Immunisation, Implanon insertion and removal, chronic disease management, sexual health and business management, Holly has received recognition for her commitment to primary health care receiving the national title of Practice Nurse of the Year in 2011 for her efforts in Continence care and promotion and again in 2017 for the National Title in all areas of Primary Health Care. Her commitment to the ongoing support and development of GP registrars undertaking training and placements in General Practice also won her the GP Synergy Practice Manager of the year in 2016.

Holly has a keen interest in cosmetic medicine and is currently undertaking a cosmetic training pathway to offer the patients of North Sydney Medical Centre full cosmetic services including Botulinum injections, fillers, IPL and dermatology services.

Adena Silverstein - Registered Psychologist

Adena is a fully registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Authority - AHPRA (Registration No: PSY0001125660) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society - APS (membership No: 108525). She shows genuine and empathic support and concern for her clients. She engages her clients in working collaboratively with her, with the aim of increasing their feeling of well-being. She utilises various therapeutic frameworks to guide sessions with clients. Sessions are tailored to assess and address the specific needs and concerns of each client, according to their unique situation.

Emily Dylan - Registered Psychologist

B App Psych, Grad Dip App Psych, AMAPS

Emily works collaboratively with the team of General Practitioners at the North Sydney Medical Centre to support the emotional well-being of their clients. Emily offers particular expertise in assessing and treating anxiety and depressive disorders. Changes in mood are common with stress and life’s challenges, and Emily has a particular passion for supporting those affected by illness and work-related injuries. Emily also offers expertise in supporting people living with cancer, carers and those living with chronic pain. Chronic pain can develop from a number of different underlying chronic diseases or conditions. It can be very difficult to adjust to normal life and deal with the pain as the experience is typically different for everyone. Emily works with people to live a meaningful and fulfilling life: strategies may target changes to physical functioning, managing the emotional impact and achieving other important lifestyle goals.

Emily works in other clinical practices in collaboration with HeadwayHealth at Frenchs Forest and Crows Nest. Emily previously worked in a private clinic in Mosman for ten years and number of other Consulting Psychology roles which have contributed to her breadth of experience. Emily’s current skill set is based on this wide breadth of experiences working with clients in a range of settings and with a range of goals. She worked as a Senior Psychologist at Effective Australia for 8 years providing a range of psychological services to clients, managing a number of counselling programs, as well as providing clinical supervision to Provisionally registered Psychologists. The rehabilitation services she provided and supervised included schemes funded through Comcare, WorkCover NSW and the Australian Defence Force.

She also extended her professional scope as a Quality and Risk Manager and Lead Auditor under the National Framework for Workers Compensation.

Prior to this role, Emily worked with Dysaran Consulting both in Sydney and Canberra managing three government Employee Assistance Programs which provided psychological interventions and counselling for a range of concerns including depression, stress, pain, and health and relationship concerns. Emily also has skills in the administration of psychological tests for vocational assessment pre-employment assessment reports, vocational counselling and critical incident debriefing sessions. In her clinical roles Emily has also provided counselling services for Work Cover NSW injured workers, supportive Pregnancy Counselling and delivered Stress Management Training.

Emily has also worked as a Psychologist for the NSW Workplace Tragedy Family Support Group.

Emily has a Psychology degree from the University of Canberra, Graduate Diplomas in both Counselling and Applied Psychology, and has completed advanced training empirically in validated interventions including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness techniques. She is an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society.
